In the funding project, two mini trucks are equipped as MTUs with an innovative treatment device to treat household septage on-site using modern filtration technologies. This technology allows 1,000 marginalized households to have their septage pumped out and professionally treated in the first year of the project.

The result: The treated almost clean water is drained directly or let out in gardens, and the filtered-out solids subsequently become briquettes for heating purposes.

In addition to the support to marginalized communities through the MTU services, 300 sanitation workers are being trained on safe wastewater management, especially on septage management, of which 10 suitable sanitation workers will be transformed into sanitation entrepreneurs by facilitating them to procure 2 MTU and commercially operate these.
