INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
FOR GREATER CLIMATE RESILIENCE.

INDIA | STATUS: CURRENT

The great opportunities that big cities promise are not only leading to far-reaching changes in the constantly growing metropolises but are also influencing the surrounding areas: rural and peri-urban areas in the urban environment which are gradually transforming into small towns. This phenomenon can also be observed around the metropolis of Ahmedabad in the western Indian state of Gujarat.

There is therefore an urgent need for a sustainable sanitation infrastructure that is adapted to ongoing urbanisation and climate change, as well as concepts for its long-term implementation.

The Indian Center for Water and Sanitation (CWAS) has set itself precisely this goal – with a particular focus on climate resilience.
